The first impression of Sucre is that it’s just like La Paz. The main plaza is nice of course… As is the surrounding area for maybe five blocks out. It is, indeed, one of few places that is pleasant to walk around. It helps that the main plaza was barricaded off today. That creates an unusual feeling of peace in the center of the city.
Update: later impressions are that it really is really nice.
I decided to take Spanish lessons for the couple of days that I am staying to fill in the big gaps in my grammar. It turned out it is quite rare for the school to get non-beginners. The teacher sometimes slips into translating instructions into English.
